The Remington Volunteer Fire Department was established on March 3, 1942.  Our first building was located on East Main Street in downtown Remington.  A 1927 Brockway was purchased for $1,400.00 and served as Remingtons' first engine company.

In 19?? the community and members of Remington saw a need for emergency medical services.  Remington purchased a ???? ambulance in ?? of 1952, this marked the start of Remington Volunteer Fire & Rescue.

With the addition of more equipment, we had outgrown our original building and felt the need to build a facility that would be capable of housing us for years to come.  In the Spring of 1954 we relocated our department to its current location.

In the 1967 we received a new ambulance, thanks to the Remington Lions Club for their generous donation.

In 2007 RVFRD broke ground on an addition and renovation to the current building.  The addition includes 9 apparatus bays, 2 training rooms, administrative offices, remodel of our banquet hall, radio room and 4 bunk rooms that can sleep 16 members.

On June 27, 2009 a Hose Uncoupling Ceremony was held to mark the grand opening of the new facility.
