Membership Options

The RVFRD is looking for new members to serve in a variety of different roles.  Please read about the different opportunities available, we have something for everyone.

Operational Members

The focus of our department is to provide fire, rescue and emergency services to the residents and citizens of Fauquier County. Our operational members are at least 18 years old and are trained as a firefighter or emergency medical technician (EMT).  Often times members become certified as both firefighter and EMT, While we only require operational members to become certified as a firefighter or EMT, many members become certified as both which we encourage.  The time commitment is considerable, but so is the satisfaction you will receive.

Associate Members

The RVFRD has opportunities available for citizens that wish to help, but do not want to become a firefighter or EMT. These members, who play just as big of a roll that the firefighters and EMT’s do, are associate members. The associate members help with fundraiser, paperwork and anything else that doesn’t require running calls. We are looking for anyone who has any of the following skills:

  • Office Skills
  • Fundraising
  • Cooking and Baking
  • Recruitment Activities
  • Organizational Skills
  • “What would you like to do?”

Junior Members

Junior members are ages 16-18, who desire to¬†support RVFRD as an entry-level operational member.¬† These members will act under the supervision of a senior member at all times and must be willing to participate at Department functions.¬† The members of this class may partake in operational training and/or with¬†required certifications, participate¬†on¬†fire fighting and emergency medical service calls with the¬†Chief’s approval. ¬†Junior members must also have parental/ guardian consent and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
